Barista - Full Time, Lost in Leith Café

Lost in Leith/Campervan Brewery are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

The role is for 35 hours per week (Thursday - Monday), with flexibility to cover the occasional evening shift as a desirable. The rate of pay is the Real Living Wage (£13.45/hour). 

Responsibilities

  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service

  • Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, adhering to quality standards

  • Assist in food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or snacks as required

  • Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment

  • Ensure food safety standards are consistently met in accordance with health regulations

  • Restock supplies and organise stock to ensure smooth operations during shifts

  • Provide friendly assistance to customers, answering questions about menu items and dietary options

Skills

  • Experience as a barista or in a similar food service role is essential 

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices

  • Excellent serving skills with a friendly and approachable manner

  • Basic food preparation skills and understanding of hygiene standards

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods

  • Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently during shifts
